I had been taught to believe everyone makes mistakes and money from a lawsuit was being greedy and would never come to any good for me. There were a few times that I could have sued but did not because of that belief. A few years ago I was implanted with a pacemaker I was told I needed or would die. My health declined drastically from that point on.

 Long story short, he not only fitted me with a pacemaker It was later proven I had never needed, but in doing so had managed to break off a medical instrument and leave the 46″ wire tangled throughout my heart and blood vessels…seemingly without him or the entire OR that day noticing.

Pacemaker and all but 3 inches of the wire embedded permanently in the renal vein of my right kidney were removed through later surgeries. Surgery itself nearly killed me and recovery was long and difficult. The damage of and repairs to my heart are permanant and life altering.

All because of a surgery I had never needed to begin with. I had simply had enough with benefit of the doubt and turning the other cheek, I found an attorney. If I had any doubts about my decision they evaporated soon enough.

Before I had even fully recovered a reporter found my case filing and published it online. Soon after that people began coming up to me (I live in a small area) and telling me about their own bad experiences with that doctor.

Some more complaint oriented and some nearly as hair raising as my own. I stand by my choice to call him out for what he did to me. In my honest opinion, the system is in place for accountability and that’s exactly what it did.

I haven’t actually left, but have asked to be seated in a different section. However, just recently I was responsible for another family to be removed from a restaurant. It was a second grade STEM camp over the summer. We were in one of the classrooms for the younger kids that had an attached bathroom. Break time hit and my junior counselors were gathering the kids to the front of the room while I was near the back corralling them forward.
